Help Screen / Glossary of Terms

The Johnson County Land Records System will allow access to basic real estate data to the public. It allows individuals to create specific ad-hoc queries. The system provides the information on each of the properties that fit the query.

The system works off the Property Search screen. After entering search criteria, the system displays a Search Result Index. The index shows all properties that match the criteria. Selecting a parcel will display a Property Summary screen. The Property Summary screen shows general information. If the result of the query contains only one result, the system will proceed to the Property Summary page. 

Property Search
The property search screen is the initial screen in Land Records. It allows the customer to build queries to meet specific needs. The customer is allowed to enter data in multiple fields and/or make multiple selections from selection boxes. Fields may also be left empty. After all selection criteria is made, click on the appropriate "Search" button (i.e. if you are performing a address search, then click on the "address search" button). The data will be queried based on the criteria and the Property Search Result Index will display the properties found. Only properties that match each and every search criteria are displayed.

Address Field
The Address Field allows the user to enter a valid address, or partial address. The search result will show available addresses found with the matching address. If 111 S. Loula is entered in the appropriate fields, the result will be one address and will proceed to the summary page.

If 111 is entered in the address number, the result will be a list of properties that have 111 in their address. This includes 111 S. Loula, as well as, all addresses with 111 on other streets.

When searching by property, an address number or address street name is required. The other address selections are optional.

City
A city or township within the borders of Johnson County, Kansas. This field is a selection box.

Kansas Uniform Parcel (KUP) Number
The State of Kansas as adopted a standardize system to identify each parcel within the state. The number is called the Kansas Uniform Parcel Number (KUP number or KUPN). A sample KUPN is 046-097-35-0-10-13-001.00-0. Entering this KUPN and pressing the KUPN search will access the Johnson County Administration building.

The system will take most any format to entering the KUPN. The user may enter the punctuation or leave it out. The first three digits (046) are unique to Johnson County and therefore it is optional. The number is broken down in the following manner.

Parcel Identification
A field consisting of up to 16 characters, which uniquely identifies a parcel. This parcel identification is unique to Johnson County.

Property Result Index
The Property Result Index page shows the results of the query submitted through the search screen. Only the properties that meet each and every search criteria will be displayed. For a residential property search, the result set's heading will show the Parcel ID, Address, and City.

The top portion of the screen will show the query created with the search criteria and the number of records found.

Property Summary
The Property Summary page displays general information about the property. From this page, the user can select to view the property map, tax bill, or nearby addresses by clicking the appropriate link.

Property Map
This link will take the user to the Johnson County AIMS mapping system. From this system the user can view and access many items of information about the mapping of their parcel.

Tax Bill
This link will take the user to the Johnson County Treasurer's Tax Bill web page. This page gives the user information about their tax bill.

Nearby Addresses
This will link back to the Property Index. the index result will display the ten(10) closest parcels to the current selected parcel. From this page the user can reselect a new parcel and view it's information.
